Store Name

You must enter a name you wish to use for your store into the box provided. This store name is required. It is limited to 40 characters, including spaces. This store name will be displayed at the top of your store page and each listing you create if you do not provide a banner to be used in its place. It will also be displayed on the SHOP page. Your store name cannot be the same as any other store name already in use. You can click the "check availability" link to search for names that are not in use. Once you know your desired store name is available, type it into the box provided.

Banner

You have two ways to provide a banner for use on your store page and at the top of each listing you enter. Providing a banner is optional and if no banner is available your store name will be used in its place.

1. If you wish to upload a banner, enter the filename into the box provided, then click the "upload banner" link. On the File Upload Form, use the browse button to locate your banner file on your computer and then use the upload button to transfer the file to The Doll Page. Close the File Upload Form to return to the Store Creation Form.

If you need to view or delete a banner image you have uploaded, click on one of the icon on the store setup page.

2. If you wish to link to an already hosted banner, enter the full URL, ie:

http://www.somehost.com/account/banner.jpg

into the box provided and be sure to tick the URL box. Be sure you enter an actual URL. DO NOT enter an HTML imgage tag, ie:

<img src="http://www.somehost.com/account/banner.jpg">

or your banner will not display. Remember, DO NOT use HTML in this form.

Uploaded or linked banners must be in .jpg or .gif format. Your banner must not be larger than 600 pixels wide and 120 pixels high (600 x 120) and should be 65 KB or less. Providing a banner is optional. Your store name will be displayed in its place if no banner is available. You can add or change your banner later if required.

Background

You have three choices for a providing or selecting a background for your store:

1. If you wish to upload a background, enter the filename into the box provided, then click the "upload background" link. On the File Upload Form, use the browse button to locate your background file on your computer and then use the upload button to transfer the file to The Doll Page. Close the File Upload Form to return to the Store Creation Form.

If you need to view or delete a background image you have uploaded, click on one of the icon on the store setup page.

2. If you wish to link to an already hosted background, enter the full URL to the hosted file, ie:

http://www.somehost.com/account/background.jpg

into the box provided and be sure to tick the URL box. Be sure you enter an actual URL. DO NOT enter an HTML imgage tag, ie:

<img src="http://www.somehost.com/account/background.jpg">

or your banner will not display. Remember, DO NOT use HTML in this form.

3. You can select a background from the samples provided in the form. These are all left margin patterns that repeat down the left side of the store or listing. For best results it is suggested that you use one of the 15 backgrounds offered. You can see what each of these will look like on a sample page by clicking on the thumbnail image. To select the one you want, click on the radio button below the thumbnail.

Uploaded or linked backgrounds must be in .jpg or .gif format. Your background must not be larger than 1500 x 120 pixels for left margin patterns and not larger than 250 x 250 pixels for tiling backgrounds. Neither type should be larger than 35 KB. Providing background is optional. If you do not select one of the thumbnails or provide your own background then the left-most banner in the first row will be used. You can add, change or select a banner later if required.

Font

There is only a limited selection of fonts available, including arial, times new roman, comic sans ms, and verdana. Although you may have another font you like to use, these four were selected because they will be on almost every computer and will work in all browsers. You may not be aware, but if you specify a font in an HTML page that is not on the viewers computer then it will not show when they look at your page. By limiting the selection here to these four fonts, your store and listing text is guaranteed to show correctly on almost any computer with any browsers. You can change your font selection later if required.

Use the down arrow to the right of the font box to pull down the selection menu and click on the font of your choice. Selecting a font is optional. If you do nothing then the default font, shown in the box, will be used.

Color

You may select a color that will be used for text, titles, and some lines and borders in your store and listings. Consider your background choice when selecting a color. You can change your color selection later if required.

Use the down arrow to the right of the color box to pull down the selection menu and click on the color of your choice. Selecting a color is optional. If you do nothing then the default color, shown in the box, will be used.

Thumbnail

You have two ways to provide a store thumbnail for use on the SHOP page:

1. If you wish to upload a store thumbnail image, enter the filename into the box provided, then click the "upload thumbnail" link. On the File Upload Form, use the browse button to locate your thumbnail file on your computer and then use the upload button to transfer the file to The Doll Page. Close the File Upload Form to return to the Store Creation Form.

If you need to view or delete a thumbnail image you have uploaded, click on one of the icon on the store setup page.

2. If you wish to link to an already hosted thumbnail image, enter the full URL to the hosted file, ie:

Providing a store thumbnail is optional and if no thumbnail image is available the site default thumbnail:

will be used in its place.

If you upload or link your own store thumbnail image it must be either .jpg or .gif format, a square exactly 96 x 96 pixels and shold not be more than 12 KB.

Short Description

The short description is very important. It is the first thing a potential customer will learn about your store and the items you are offering for sale. It displays on the SHOP page along with the store thumbnail and store name. It must not be more than 25 words. Do not use HTML and do not create multiple paragraphs. Enter the text in the box provided.

Long Description

The long description is what you wish to say at the top of your store page, above the links to your listings. You may provide as much text as you wish, but using two or three concise paragraphs is recommended. Do not use HTML. Press ENTER twice to begin a new paragraph. Enter the text in the box provided.

Terms

There are three terms entry boxes: shipping, payment, and other. Enter the appropriate text in each box. This text will be displayed at the bottom of each of your listings and should contain your terms, policies, and procedures for each respective area. "Other" can contain information for guarantees, returns, special instructions, etc.

Each section will have its own title so you should not add one. Do not use HTML. Press ENTER twice to begin a new paragraph. Enter the text in the box provided. If you do not wish to include some or all of these terms sections in your listings then leave the box(es) empty.

Categories

You can enter up to 18 categories in this section. Categories are optional, and if you enter none, then all items will appear in the default 'Other items' category. The 'Other items' category is built into each store's categories list so you do not need to enter it or any other similar category like 'Miscellaneous', etc. Categories are used to group your items for listing in your store. When you store is first entered a gallery view of all items will be displayed. Your customer can then select a category to narrow down the display. Short category names are best. One or two words are better than several words. Each item listed will be assigned to only one category. Choose categories wisely to best display your items and assist customers in finding what they are interested in. If you need less than 18 categories, just leave the extra entries blank.
